ax-lightness SELECTION 80C – Robust full carbon clincher for extreme sprints
We have leveraged our many years of experience in carbon construction (wheel building) to develop the new carbon rims of the SELECTION series. With the SELECTION wheel series, we offer outstanding performance at a fair price-performance ratio.
The ultimate aero statement in the SELECTION range: the 80C features an 80 mm high-profile rim that delivers significant advantages on flat courses, in triathlons, or in time trials. The slightly narrower rim profile (28 mm external, 21 mm internal) is optimized for classic road bike tires from 25 mm width. At 1,690 g, the set weighs more than the CX variants but offers noticeably greater aerodynamic efficiency in return. Sapim CX-Ray spokes and external nipples ensure easy maintenance. Recommended for races on flat terrain, triathlons, and time trials.
The wheelset is delivered tubeless-ready, allowing easy installation of tubeless-compatible tires. Of course, the wheelset can also be used with inner tubes. The glossy UD matte finish combined with the dark laser-etched ax-lightness decals completes the premium look of the wheelset.
The in-house ax-lightness disc hubs used in the SELECTION series, featuring CenterLock mounting, compete at the highest level. The rear hub is equipped with a sealed ratchet freehub system. Overall, the focus was on maximum stability with reduced weight. High-quality Enduro hub bearings ensure low friction losses. The 2-cross lacing pattern with 24 Sapim CX-Ray bladed spokes per wheel distributes loads evenly across the rim, resulting in extremely stiff and durable wheels. All wheelsets in the SELECTION series feature external spoke nipples, making maintenance easier without time-consuming tire removal.
The weight, including tubeless rim tape, is just 1,690 grams (+/–5 %), making the SELECTION 80C the ideal sprinter for triathlon and time trials.
