With the ULTRA SL 25C, ax-lightness elevates high-end wheel construction to a new level. Based on many years of experience in carbon manufacturing, the wheelsets of the ULTRA series have been consistently further developed—with a clear focus on uncompromising lightweight construction for pure road use. The in-house ULTRA components incorporate the accumulated know-how from all ax-lightness production areas (cycling, automotive, skiing, etc.). The result is a highly integrated lightweight system in which every component is optimized for maximum performance.
The ULTRA SL 25C sets new standards: With a rim depth of 25 mm and a sensational total weight of just 840 grams per wheelset (including tubeless rim tape, ±5 %), it ranks among the lightest series-production carbon wheelsets worldwide. Despite this extremely low weight, the wheelset is approved for a maximum system weight of up to 115 kg—an impressive testament to the exceptional stability and engineering behind the ax-lightness ULTRA SL 25C.
Both front and rear wheels feature 20 ultra-stiff carbon bladed spokes in the even lighter T32 version. These spokes are more weight-efficient than the T36 variant and, combined with the 2-cross lacing pattern, deliver optimal power transfer, high lateral and torsional stiffness, and an extremely direct ride feel—ideal for explosive accelerations, hard sprints, and long climbs.
The rim of the ULTRA SL 25C is uncompromisingly designed for modern road cycling. With an internal rim width of 36.6 mm and an external width of 29.5 mm, it offers optimal tire support and a very harmonious ride quality. The shallow 25-mm profile ensures particularly lively handling, low rotational inertia, and maximum climbing efficiency—exactly where every gram counts.
As with all ULTRA wheelsets, the ULTRA SL 25C is equipped with in-house ax-lightness ULTRA Disc hubs featuring a ratchet freehub system and high-quality ceramic bearings. The focus is on minimal rolling resistance, maximum durability, and the lowest possible weight—perfectly matched to the extreme lightweight philosophy of the SL model.
Visually, the ULTRA SL 25C emphasizes its exclusive character with a UD glossy paintless finish and subtle white decals. The paint-free surface saves additional weight.
The weight of the wheelset is just 840 grams including tubeless rim tape (+/–5 %), placing it well below the 1000-gram mark. Combined with approval for a 115 kg system weight, the ULTRA SL 25C sets a new benchmark in series-production carbon lightweight construction for the road.
